SPOKANE, Wash. – The Seattle University Redhawks shined at the Riverfront Invitational and Multis, recording three new all-time SU top-ten results across events. Taylor Marks, JR Zamora, and Manthita Wague all put their names in the record books, with Wague nearly setting a new all-time program best in the long jump.
Wague had a 5.57m jump, the second-best in SU history and just .03m behind Caylah Lunning's 5.60m jump from 2017. Wague already owned the fourth-best long jump in SU history entering the weekend, at 5.53m before this jump.
Zamora had a 13.43m triple jump, the longest of his indoor career and good for fourth in SU history. It tied Zamora with Jordan Kenison, who also jumped 13.43m in 2017.
Marks ran a 7.95 in the 60m, shaving almost a tenth of a second off her personal best. That was enough to put her tied with Alyssa Tao for eighth in SU history.
The Redhawks had three other personal bests in addition to the new top-ten times. Zoe Tibbo ran a 8.37 60m, besting her previous personal best by .07 seconds. Sean Ellison's 6.26m long jump was a new personal best by .05 meters. JR Zamora's 22.69 in the 200m shaved almost a full second off his previous personal best of 23.65.
Zamora and Matthew Fiso both nearly recorded new personal bests in the 60m, each missing out by .01 seconds. Zamora ran a 7.08, just behind his personal best of 7.07, and Fiso ran a 7.26, just behind his personal best of 7.25. Livii Fetterley matched her career-best high jump at 1.49m and had a new personal best in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.95.
The Redhawks have just one more meet before the WAC Indoor Championships. That last meet will be the Husky Classic, hosted at Washington's Dempsey Indoor Facility and running February 14-15.
