Seattle U Falls in Series Finale

LOS ANGELES - Seattle U baseball dropped the third and final game of their series with Loyola Marymount, 6-12, Sunday afternoon in California. The Redhawks had a late 5-run rally in the final two innings of the game, but it was not enough as they were swept in the opening series of 2025.

"Obviously not the weekend we hoped for," said head coach Donny Harrel. "All of those innings were very important getting live reps, as we have not been able to have full scrimmages due to weather and field conditions back home."

Jared Stevenson continued to show up in his first series in a Redhawk uniform, ripping a 2-RBI triple in the 8th. That brought his total for the series to a team-leading five runs batted in. Sebastian Lopez also had a run scoring extra base hit in the inning, hitting a deep double off the wall in left that scored Stevenson.

Sam Kane and Brandon Stinnett had the other two RBI on the day, both bringing in a run in the 9th inning. Those would be the final two runs in the Redhawk rally, as they would fall to the Lions 6-12.

Isaac Hallam had his first collegiate start on the mound, going 3 2/3 IP while giving up four earned. He also recorded his first three career strikeouts on the day. Reid Madariaga made his second appearance on the mound in relief, while Kaden Alberghini and Ryan Morrison both made their first appearances out of the pen.

"Really feel the more we can continue to play, the better we will get," coach Harrel added. "Excited to get back down here (California) later this week to get back after it."

After Tuesday's upcoming match up with British Columbia was postponed due to inclement weather forecasted back in Seattle, the Redhawks will have a couple extra days of rest before returning to California for the Tony Gwynn Legacy. Seattle U will face San Diego State, UC Santa Barbara, Utah, and Long Beach State starting Thursday, Feb. 20.
