LOS ANGELES - Seattle U baseball dropped a high scoring affair with Loyola Marymount, 11-17, Saturday night in California. The two teams combined for 31 hits and 28 runs in the second game of the series.

"Tough night with our pitching and defense," said head coach Donny Harrel. "We did not make some routine plays on defense, which elongated innings on our pitchers and then LMU took advantage with some big hits."

The Redhawks took their first lead of the season when they put. four spot up in the top of the 2nd. Michael Tsoukalas, Brandon Stinnett, and Vicente Feliciano all drove in runs in the inning to give SU the 4-2 lead.

Seattle U would fall behind again but continued to battle with quality at bats, scoring six runs between the 4th and 6th. The stretch was capped off by a 3-run homerun by Jared Stevenson (1) in the 6th. At the time of the homerun, the Redhawks cut the deficit to just 1-run.

"Better day offensively," Harrel added. "We need to play a complete game in all three phases tomorrow and create a better opportunity to get a win."

Rafael Espionza started his first game in a Redhawk uniform, going three innings while giving up seven earned runs on seven hits. Kenny Ishikawa and Brady Liddle were both called into action out of the pen, covering the final eight innings.

The Lions scored six of the next seven runs of the game and ended up taking game two, and the series.

SU will try to avoid the sweep in the series finale on Sunday, with freshman Isacc Hallam scheduled to make the start. Game time is set for 11am PT with another ESPN+ stream.
