BOSTON – It was an historic day for Seattle University track and field team, which began its season with three athletes running at Boston University's Colyear-Danville Opener. Lilianne Hargreaves and Azalea Groleau each broke the school record in the 3000m, with Hargreaves doing so by almost ten full seconds.

Alex Jensen, Hargreaves, and Groleau all competed, with Jensen running the mile and Hargreaves and Groleau running the 3000m.

Hargreaves, who already owned the school record in the 3000m, ran a new career and school best in her first 3000m of the season with a 9:36.11. That was over nine full seconds faster than her previous program record of 9:45.93, set last season.

Groleau also bested the previous Seattle University record with a 9:41.85. That time was almost five seconds faster than her previous personal best (9:46.46), which had been the second-fastest 3000m in program history.

Jensen set a new career-best in the mile with a 4:17.05, shaving 11 seconds off his previous collegiate best. He came just three-tenths of a second away from going into Seattle University's all-time top ten, just behind Yonas Sauers' 4:16.30 from 2024.
