SEATTLE - The Seattle University Redhawks announced a new signing for the 2025-26 season, adding Jacob Kang. Kang, a native of Mill Creek, Washington, will join the Redhawks as a freshman.
"For a few years now, I have had the pleasure of watching Jacob compete and he has turned into an exceptional player," said head coach Marc Chandonnet. "He is intelligent, hard-working, and has an amazing support system around him. We are excited to have another player join our program from Henry M. Jackson High School since the last one, Kyle Cornett, helped us to an NCAA Regional."
A two-time 4A First Team selection, Kang has also been named the Athlete of the Month by Henry M. Jackson High School. This year, Kang has been a part of the 2024 Junior America's Cup team for Washington state.
Kang has had a successful junior career in Washington, winning a number of tournaments over the years. He won the 2022 and 2024 Bill Egbers Memorial, was the 4A WESCO champion in 2022 and 2023, and has won the 2024 Everett Invitational and WJGA Western Open.
"Jacob has strong friendships with our current players as well and they have a ton of respect for his game, so his transition to college will be a lot smoother because of that. A huge thanks to Peter Murphy, Jacob's teacher, in helping support Jacob and for all the work he has put in with Jacob," said Chandonnet.
