ST GEORGE, UT - Seattle U women's soccer concluded their conference opening road trip by defeating Utah Tech, 2-1, Sunday morning in Utah. The Redhawks got goals from Kait Raffensperger and Kailee Wilson as they remained unbeaten in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC).
"I am really happy with the way we finished off the weekend," said head coach Julie Woodward. "Overall, the team played really well in both games.
The Redhawks put up 14 shots in the first half but couldn't find the opener as both sides went into the break scoreless.
Raffensperger would open the scoring tally 13 minutes into the second half, when she was able to head in a corner kick from Jourdyn Curran. For Raffensperger it was her first goal of the season while Curran tied the team high with her fourth assist.
Wilson would score the eventual game-winner in the 79th minute. Kyla Schuster played wide to Wilson who took a touch before ripping a shot into the net for her first goal of the 2024 season.
"Kailee had a very special game for us today and was definitely a difference maker," Woodward added of the Woman of the Match. "Kyla gave us some great energy and great play and it's great to see so many players playing well. Our depth continues to be a game changer."
The Trailblazers would score one with just five seconds remaining in the match, but the Redhawks came out victorious to push their WAC record to 2-0-1.
