ST. GEORGE, Utah - A night that saw a record feat for senior Katlyn Sipes didn't go Seattle U volleyball's way as the Redhawks fell 3-0 to Utah Tech at Burns Arena on Thursday night.

Sipes became the fifth Redhawk in the program's modern day DI era to surpass 1,000 career digs. She met the mark in the second set and ended the night with an insurance dig, crossing over to 1,001 career digs, racking up five against the Trailblazers. She was one of two Redhawks to record an ace on the night as freshman Ivy Brown recorded the other.

Senior Arianna Bilby paced the team with eight kills, while tallying four digs. Redshirt sophomore Yasemin Elmas and junior Merima Smajlovic combined for 10 kills, while Elmas swung .300 for five kills on ten attacks and two errors. Smajlovic led the Redhawks with six digs while picking up a block.

Redshirt sophomore Elif Teksoy racked up double digit assists after picking up ten. Freshman Grace Jones sat right behind with nine, while Sipes added three.

Junior Marley Hardgrave added another solo block as she led the Redhawk defense up front. She ended the night with three total blocks, adding in four kills hitting .667 on six attacks and no errors.

Seattle U went for 25 kills, two aces, three blocks, 23 assists and 25 digs to end the night. Utah Tech sat with imposing authority on its home court, hitting .469 for 46 kills on 81 attacks and eight total errors. The Redhawks struggled to douse the flames, tying the match four times over the course of the night. With little room to work, Seattle U dropped its road contest 3-0 to Utah Tech.

The Redhawks remain in Utah through the weekend, traveling up the road to Southern Utah for their second meeting of the season on Saturday, November 2.
