RIVERSIDE, Calif. - Seattle U volleyball's push to get back in the win column was blocked by California Baptist as the Lancers took the match 3-0 (25-21, 25-18, 25-18) at Van Dyne Gym on Saturday afternoon.

Senior Arianna Bilby led the Redhawks with ten kills, adding along six digs and an ace. It was the third straight match recording at least one ace for the outside hitter. Junior Merima Smajlovic added seven kills, while recording a team leading two aces. She picked a block and four digs.

Senior Selin Isik went for a season high four kills, hitting .500 on eight attacks and no errors. She also added two digs while appearing in two sets.

Two Redhawks grabbed double digit assist efforts, with redshirt sophomore Elif Teksoy leading Seattle U with twelve. Freshman Grace Jones added another 11 to the Redhawks' 32 assists on the day.

Junior Marley Hardgrave paced the Redhawks defense up front, posting three blocks. Senior Katlyn Sipes grabbed eight digs, narrowly missing her 1,000 career dig mark. She sits four away from the feat.

The two teams were practically even in the first set. Seattle U grabbed 13 kills to CBU's 12, but the Lancers posted four fewer errors, out hitting the Redhawks .267 to .156. California Baptist came alive in the final two sets, while Seattle U struggled to extinguish the flames. Between the second and third sets, the Lancers posted 36 kills to Seattle U's 20.

Both teams recorded five aces on the day, but CBU paced the Redhawks across the board to grab its third conference win of the season. Both teams now sit tied for seventh in the WAC.

Seattle U remains on the road heading into next week. The Redhawks spend the weekend in Utah, with visits to Utah Tech and Southern Utah on Oct. 31 and Nov. 2 respectively.
