SEATTLEArianna Bilby finished one kill shy of her career high of 22 and Katlyn Sipes added a match-high 22 digs, but Seattle University volleyball could not complete the comeback in a 14-25, 25-23, 22-25, 21-25 final against Utah Valley Monday night in the Redhawk Center.

Bilby's 21 kills was a season-high for the senior, while she also added 13 digs for her second straight match with a double-double performance. But no other Redhawk reached double digit kills as Seattle U's offense struggled against the Wolverine's front line.

UVU finished the night with 13 blocks to the Redhawks' three.

After a sluggish first set, Seattle U came alive in the second, leading by as many as nine, 17-8. The Wolverines cut it to one, 24-23, before Bilby sealed the set win with her seventh kill of the set.

The Redhawks carried the momentum into the third set, scoring the first six straight points and leading 10-2 to force a Utah Valley timeout. The Wolverines clawed back into the match, eventually flipping the score and taking a 22-21 lead. The visitor went on to win the set and the momentum swing stayed in their favor in the fourth.

Seattle U (2-10, 0-2 WAC) hits the road for its next four conference matches, beginning with three straight in the state of Texas. The Redhawks head to Stephenville, Texas, on Oct. 3 to face Tarleton and to Abilene, Texas, on Oct. 7 to face Abilene Christian. Both matches will air live on ESPN+.
