SEATTLE - Seattle U women's soccer checked off their first win of the 2024 season, defeating Idaho, 3-1, Sunday afternoon at Championship Field. U'i Kaaihue, Brooke Wilson, and Bella Bonnett all found the back of the net as the Redhawks moved to 1-0 at home on the season.

"Our team played a very complete game today," said head coach Julie Woodward. "I was extremely happy with the resiliency they showed after Idaho tied the game."

After being shutout in their season opener on Thursday, it took no time for the Redhawks to score their first goal on the day. After receiving a throw-in, Hallie Bergord sent a cross into the box that Kaaihue slotted home just under three minutes after kick off.

The Redhawks would take the 1-0 advantage into the halftime break, but it would be Idaho who scored the first goal of the second half at the 65' mark.

It would only take 10 minutes of action before Seattle U found themselves up once again after a penalty was awarded to them after an Idaho handball in the box was called. Wilson, who had just subbed onto the field, was the one to step to the spot. She sent a right-footed shot into the bottom left corner of the goal to put SU back in front.

In what became the theme of the game, the Redhawks would have another rapid-fire goal, this time set up from a Jourdyn Curran corner kick. She sent an in-swinging ball into the box that was redirected on frame by Bonnett for the sealer. For her efforts, Bonnett was named the Woman of the Match.

"Bella had a very strong performance today, really controlling the midfield for us both offensively and defensively," Woodward added."It was really great to see her, U'i and Brooke all score after having to sit out last season with injuries. I am very excited about the depth of this team. Many gave us good minutes today."
