SEATTLE - Seattle U volleyball has signed transfer Brooklyn Stearns from Temple, Head Coach Dan Behnke announced on Wednesday.
"We're excited to have Brooklyn joining us," said Behnke. "She's a strong right side hitter with local ties to the Seattle area. She'll provide us with some physicality and depth on the right side which is what we have been looking for."
Stearns played her high school volleyball at Oaks Chrisitan in Westlake Village, California, earning AVCA All-America Girls High School All-Region Team and Marmonte League 1st Team in 2022. A two-year varsity letter-winner, Stearns was a key member of the Lions' squad that went 28-5 and won the 2022 Marmonte League Championship, ranking second on the team in block and third in kills per set. The 6'3 right side hitter's Oaks Christian squad finished as CIF Division 3 runner-ups, ranked 21st overall in California, 11th in the SoCal Southern Section, and second in the Division 3 Southern Section.
Stearns played club mostly for Lava West before finishing with Sunshine, taking the 2023 SCVA 18U Regional Championship and ending as a top-five blocker in SoCal. While with Lava West, Stearns helped them finish second at the PVL Championships and third at the 17 USA at the Red Rock Rave National Qualifier and the 16 USA Spokane National Qualifier.
The Redshirt freshman grew up in Westlake Village, California, but was actually born in Seattle. Her mother, Michelle (Murray) Stearns, was also a Division I athlete, swimming at the University of Washington. Stearns plans to major in Film and Media arts while at Seattle U.
Stearns joins Anae Asuncion and Grace Jones as the third member of the 2024 class.
