RANCHO SANTE FE, Calif. - Kevin Li of Seattle U men's golf heads to the program's third NCAA Regional appearance this coming week, competing for one of the six individual spots in the National Finals. The three-day, 54-hole event will be held from May 13-15 with a practice round on May 12 at The Farms Golf Club in Rancho Sante Fe, California, on the 6,962 yards course with a par of 70. Li will start off with four other individuals in one the last pairings, beginning at 9:50 a.m.
Li will be competing against golfers from Arizona State, Washington, Oklahoma, California, Oklahoma State, North Florida, Chattanooga, South Florida, San Diego, West Virginia, Kansas, Wright State, Seton Hall and Winthrop.
The native of Shenzhen, Guangdong, China became just the third Redhawk to earn Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Freshman of the Year last week, joining Zach Overstreet (2016-17) and Joe Harvie (2014-15).
Li became the first freshman to win the WAC Individual title since 2015 as well as just the second Redhawk to snatch the award and punch his ticket to an NCAA Regional. The freshman currently holds the second best scoring average in Redhawks' history, logging a 72.3 (adjusted) heading into the NCAA Regional. In addition to being named WAC Freshman of the Year, Li also takes home First Team All-WAC honors.
