STEPHENVILLE, TX - Seattle U baseball dropped their third and final game of a 3-game series with Tarleton State, 2-9, early Sunday morning in Texas. The Redhawks fell behind early and were not able to claw back into the game as they were swept in the conference series.
"Very disappointing weekend," said head coach Donny Harrel. "We just cannot seem to get out of our own way to play 9 innings of good baseball. The guys need to keep working and grinding this stretch out to still have a chance to make the WAC Tourney."
Derek Gellos was an offensive standout despite the loss. The senior was just a home run shy of hitting for the cycle after hitting a triple and RBI double in back-to-back plate appearances. He finished the day 3-for-5. Freshman Sam Kane drove in the other Redhawk run on the day, his team leading 25th of the season.
Luke Alwood (0-3) was credited with the loss on the day, going 1 2/3 IP while giving up seven earned on four hits.
With the loss the Redhawks drop to 7-24 overall and to 3-9 in WAC play. They will have a 1-game match up with Washington on Tuesday before returning to conference play at home when they host Sacramento State for a 3-game series starting Friday, April 12.
