Seattle U Places Third at 2024 Redhawk Invitational

UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. - Seattle U men's golf marked its best overall team finish of the season on Tuesday afternoon, taking third place overall out of 18 teams at the 10th annual Redhawk Invitational. Freshman Will Koch recorded his best overall finish as a collegiate golfer, posting a career-best three-round total of seven-under 206 (66-70-70) to seal fourth place overall. The two-day, three-round event took place at Chamber's Bay Golf Course in University Place, Washington, with a par of 71 and yardage of 6,991 in rounds one and two and 6,949 in round three.

UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. - Seattle U men's golf marked its best overall team finish of the season on Tuesday afternoon, taking third place overall out of 18 teams at the 10th annual Redhawk Invitational. Freshman Will Koch recorded his best overall finish as a collegiate golfer, posting a career-best three-round total of seven-under 206 (66-70-70) to seal fourth place overall. The two-day, three-round event took place at Chamber's Bay Golf Course in University Place, Washington, with a par of 71 and yardage of 6,991 in rounds one and two and 6,949 in round three. 

The Redhawks finished with their lowest overall score of the season at four-under 848, logging one of the top-five best finishes for a single round at four-under 280 during round two. Seattle U recorded the third most overall birdies made (55) as well as finishing fourth on the par fours (4.06 average, 10-over overall), fifth on the par threes (3.15, nine-over) and sixth on the par fives (4.82, eight-under). 

Will Koch began his career-best finish with his best single-round score as a Redhawk, recording a five-under 66 in the opening round. Koch sealed off the opening day with his career hole in one, hitting the pole on 15 for one of two hole in ones by golfers this week. Koch tied for second overall on the par threes (2.83, two-under), tied for fourth in made birdies (14), tied for eighth on par fives (4.56, four-under) and tied for 10th on par fours (3.97, one-under). 

Ben Ragland also marked his career-best finish as a collegiate golfer, marking a three-under 210 (72-68-70) for seventh place overall that included his career-best round of three-under 68 in the final round on day one. Ragland led the field on the par threes, posting a 2.75 average and overall of three-under as well as 11 overall made birdies.

Liam Gill (71-75-71) tied for sixth overall on the par fours (3.94, two-under), while Kevin Li (78-72-71) improved each round and John Morrow rounded out the team score with a three-round total of 22 (77-70-75). 

Jakob Balkovec (70-69-76) competed as an individual and marked his best career 36 hole total after an impressive first day saw him shoot a three-under 139. Caleb Davies (76-75-79) competed in his second career collegiate event, while Blake Kukula (71-74-77) and Burly Hildreth (76-79-76) round out the last of the Seattle U participants.

The Redhawks will head to one more tournament before the Western Athletic Conference Championships at the end of the month, traveling to El Macero, California, for the UC Davis El Macero Classic from April 12-14.
