BELLEVUE, WA - Seattle U baseball dropped 3-of-4 to Saint Mary's in their 2024 home opening series. Redhawks lone win came in an extended game three, that started in Everett on Saturday and ended in Bellevue on Sunday.

"Very disappointing weekend," said head coach Donny Harrel. "We do not play consistent in all fazes for the game and we are giving up to many runs per inning and our offense does not create tough outs throughout an entire game. We have a couple working days to clean stuff up before the most important games of the year."

A few standouts from were Derek Gellos, Grant Heiser, and Sam Kane, who all hit one home run and drove in a combined 11 of the Redhawks 16 total runs over the 4-game series. It was Kane's team leading third home run of the season, Heiser's second on the year, and Gellos' first of 2024.

In the game three win for the Redhawks, Kian Hogan was credited with his first win of the year. He would start on the mound once the game resumed on Sunday, going three innings while giving up 1 run on just two hits. Jarek Woodward would secure the win, getting the 6-out save, his second of the season.

The Redhawks now drop to 4-8 on the season, as they turn their focus to the start of conference play. Seattle U will travel to Riverside, CA, for a 3-game WAC play opening series with California Baptist starting Friday, March 8.
