Redhawks Soar Over Drake, 11-2

STILLWATER, Okla. – Seattle U softball (8-12) put together its most complete performance together on Sunday morning, dominating in an, 11-2, win over Drake that ended after five innings. The contest took place at Cowgirl Stadium on the campus of Oklahoma State in Stillwater, Oklahoma.

The Redhawks got the offense started in the second inning, scoring six runs on six hits. Katie Walling and Amanda Morris marked back-to-back singles before Lily Garcia laid down a stellar bunt that allowed her to reach and score a run. Two batters later, Sydney Frankenberger singled up the middle to load the bases before, Taylor Fitch beat out a single to the pitcher that brought two runs across to score. Right after, Ava Sin reached on an error by second base that allowed two runs to score, while Jasmine Wehn made it a six run inning with a single through the left side. 

Seattle U piled on five more runs in the third inning on four hits. Amanda Morris marked her second hit of the contest with a single up the middle before KJ Hopfer smoked a double down the left field line to drive in two runs. Frankenberger brought Hopfer across home plate in the next at bat with a single through the right side. Taylor Fitch marked another RBI with a double to right center and later came around to score on a passed ball. 

Stefanie Madrigal marked her fourth win of the season in a complete game effort, allowing just two runs in the five innings of work. Madrigal sent the Bulldogs down in order to begin the contest before stranding a runner on third in the second and keeping the Bulldogs off the board in the fourth when they looked like they might score. 

SCORING SUMMARY

• Second Inning: Lily Garcia hit a bunt single for an RBI. Taylor Fitch singled to the pitcher for two runs. Ava reached on an error by second base, bringing home two more runs. Jasmine Wehn singled through the left side for the sixth run of the inning. 
• Third Inning: KJ Hopfer doubled down the left field line for two RBI. Sydney Frankenberger singled through the right side to score a run. Taylor Fitch doubled to right center for an RBI. Fitch scored on a passed ball. Drake scored two runs on two hits. 

The Redhawks will head on the road one more time before opening the season at home, traveling to Portland for three contests with Portland State. The action begins on Thursday with a doubleheader slated for 4 and 6 p.m.
