ARLINGTON, Tex. - Seattle U women's golf junior Rivekka Jumagulova has been named Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Women's Golfer of the Week, for the tournament week ending on Wednesday, March 20, the WAC announced on Thursday.
"Rivekka continues to impress us," said Head Coach Marc Chandonnet. "Her best golf is still ahead of her considering we know she can reach another level. She is one of the toughest competitors and we can tell she is starting to gain that confidence back. We will do our best to keep her healthy and focused on believing she can accomplish more than she can dream of."
Jumagulova led the Redhawks to a co-team title finish this past weekend at the 2024 Red Rocks Invitational in Sedona, Arizona, tying for eighth overall with a three-round total of one-over 217. Seattle U was one of four teams to post a single round score of one-over 289, with Jumagulova's best round performance of two-under 70 being vital in that score.
The junior from Almaty, Kazakhstan, was important in the Redhawks tying for the best performance in the field of 20 teams on the par fives, tying for fifth overall with an average of 4.50 and a score of two-under. Jumagulova tied for eighth in made birdies (four), helping Seattle U to tie for fifth in made birdies with 13.
This marks the junior's fourth career WAC weekly honor and fourth of her Seattle U career.
The Redhawks will compete in one final event before the Western Athletic Conference Championships (WAC), heading to back to Arizona for the Bobcat Desert Classic from Apr. 8-10 in Goodyear.
