CORVALLIS, OR - Seattle U track and field opened their indoor season at the Oregon State PNW Invitational on Saturday, March 16. The meet featured notable performances from the Redhawks, including a quartet of first place performances.
"Coming off of finals week to have as many personal best and top ten all time performances was more than we could have expected" says head coach Kelly Sullivan. "Really proud of the entire team." he continues.
The Redhawks swept the top three in the mens 800 meter, with senior Gus Harquail taking first place with his time of 1:53.84, followed closely by Alex Franklin and Zack Sundt, who finished with times of 1:54.24 and 1:56.84, respectively.
Jocelyn Garcia came out on top in the women's 400 meter, with a time of 1:00.34, finishing over five seconds ahead of her next closest competitor.
Sophomore Jamaari Jefferson continued his impressive season by finishing in first place in the men's long jump with a mark of 6.78 meters. Jefferson finished in first out of twenty total competitors at the meet, and landed far ahead of the next closest competitor, who had a mark of 6.68 meters.
Zoe Tibbo also also finished in first place in the women' triple jump with her mark of 11.50 meters, a new personal best for the sophomore that earns her a fifth place spot in school records.
The Redhawks had a notable twenty-seven total personal best finishes at the meet, along with a handful of top ten school performances.
