BELLEVUE, WA - Seattle U baseball secured their first win of the 2024 conference season, defeating UTRGV, 4-3, Friday night at Bannerwood Park. The Redhawks took the lead in the 1st inning and never looked back as they knocked off the Vaqueros.

The Redhawk offense came out swinging early, picking up two runs on RBIs from Sam Kane and Grant Heiser in the 1st. Mateo Zeppieri would drive in his first run in a Redhawk uniform in the 3rd, before Heiser brought home his second of the game in the 5th.

Blake Smith was on the mound for the Redhawks and had a great start, going into the 8th. He allowed just two earned runs on the day while also striking out three. Despite the start, he would come out of the game in a bases loaded situation as Cameron Dayton took over.

Dayton not only got out of the inherited full bases, but also went 1-2-3 in the 9th to close the game out and secure his second save of the year.
