ARLINGTON, Tex. - Seattle U women's basketball (5-22, 5-13 WAC) marked its second straight win this evening, going into Arlington, Texas, and taking down UT Arlington, 81-77. Noemie Bariteau hit a dagger three pointer with just eight seconds remaining to halt a Mavericks comeback. The Western Athletic Conference (WAC) matchup took place at the College Park Center on the campus of UT Arlington in Arlington, Texas.
Makayla Moore led in the Redhawks in scoring on the night, posting 17 points on 7-from-13 from the field to go along with two steals.
Mya Moore marked her second straight double-double and fifth career in just 19 minutes of action, scoring 13 points and grabbing 10 boards.
Asta Blauenfeldt chipped in 12 points of her own, going 10-for-10 at the free throw line, while Peyton Howard added 11 points, four rebounds and two steals.
Lisa Michaelsen set multiple career-highs on the night as the fifth Redhawk in double figure scoring, marking 11 points and eight rebounds.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Redhawks got off to a blistering start in this contest, outscoring UTA, 25-13 in the opening quarter.
Seattle U went on a 16-2 run from the six minute mark to the final 30 seconds of the opening quarter, with Aannah Interrante scoring all eight of her points down that stretch.
A back-and-forth third quarter that saw the Redhawks lead for the majority of it take a two point lead into the final frame.
The Redhawks came out quickly in the fourth, opening with a 12-4 run that pushed the lead to 10 points on this Irena Korolenko three pointer.
After SU was fourtante to keep possesion on a jump ball, Noemie Bariteau knocked down this three pointer with the shot clock expiring to make it a six point game in the final seconds.
The Redhawks return home for the final two contests of the 2023-24 WAC regular season next week, beginning with Abilene Christian at 6 p.m. in the Redhawk Center.
