Redhawks Shine in Day One of WAC Championships

PHARR, TX - Seattle U men's and women's swimming concluded day one of the WAC Swimming/Diving Championship in Texas today. Several Redhawks set new school records and top-10 times in the opening day of the event.

PHARR, TX - Seattle U men's and women's swimming concluded day one of the WAC Swimming/Diving Championship in Texas today. Several Redhawks set new school records and top-10 times in the opening day of the event. 

"Terrific start to night one here in Texas," said head coach Joe Dykstra. "We had a lot of nerves going into the relays but swam through them well. We had 7 best times out of the time trials tonight as well which was amazing. Very excited for tomorrow!"

The day started with the men's 200 medley relay team of Danielis Kvederis, Jaxon Gonzales, Eric Thomure, and Nicholas Imig setting the school record with a time of 1:28.31. That was followed by the 800 free relay team of Kvederies, Nicholas Lanting, Michael Luna, Theodore Johansen also setting a new school record at a time of 6:30.09.

The women's medley team of Lydia Genson, Sarah Cook, Samantha Mosier, and Mia David finished with the 4th fastest time in school history at 1:44.45. The 800 team of Maggie Robben, Amanda Miller, Genson, and Kaya Lathangue had the 8th fastest time in school history with a 7:34.85 finish. 

Individually, Cook set a new school record in the 100 IM time trial with a 57.60 finish. Kvederis just missed setting the school record in the 200 free by 0.01.

The Redhawks will be back in the pool for day two of the championships tomorrow, starting at 8:30am PT. The entire day will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
