SAN JOSE, Calif. - Seattle U baseball dropped game two of their 3-game series with San Jose State, 3-4, Saturday afternoon in California. The game needed extra innings, but the Redhawks could not find the go-ahead run as the series evened.
"Another really good baseball game," head coach Donny Harrel said postgame. "Both teams pitched it and defended it really well. Today they got the big hit, so you got to give them credit. We still have an opportunity to win a road series tomorrow, so that is the goal."
In his second start of the season, Peter Chronowski went six innings while allowing just two earned runs on six hits. He also struck out five Spartan batters in his no decision. Jarek Woodward was the first out of the pen for the Redhawks, striking out six of the 12 batters he faced.
Matt Rowatt (0-2) was credited with the loss, as his lone hit given up proved to be the walk-off winner for the Spartans.
Cole Kleckner extended his hitting streak to 33 games, driving in Cameron Dayton with a double in the top of the 3rd. Trevor Antonson and Sam Kane both drove in the other two runs on the day, both off sacrifice flys.
The Redhawks will look to win their first series of the fresh season tomorrow, as they square off with the Spartans in game three. First pitch from San Jose is scheduled for 12:05pm PT and will be broadcast live on the Mountain West Network.
