Four Double-Digit Scorers Take Down Vaquerous

EDINBURG, Tex. - Seattle U women's basketball (4-22, 4-13 WAC) sealed its third win in five contests, taking down UTRGV, 82-75, behind four Redhawks in double figure scoring. The Western Athletic Conference (WAC) matchup took place at the UTRGV Fieldhouse on the campus of UTRGV in Edinburg, Texas.

EDINBURG, Tex. - Seattle U women's basketball (4-22, 4-13 WAC) sealed its third win in five contests, taking down UTRGV, 82-75, behind four Redhawks in double figure scoring. The Western Athletic Conference (WAC) matchup took place at the UTRGV Fieldhouse on the campus of UTRGV in Edinburg, Texas. 

Mya Moore finished the afternoon as the Redhawks leading scorer, finishing three points shy of her career-high with 25 points and adding 12 rebounds to mark her fourth career double-double. 

Irena Korolenko chipped in 19 points of her own, shooting 8-for-12 from the field to go along with six assists and five rebounds. 

Makayla Moore contributed 14 points on the day, knocking down eight free throws for a new career-high in makes. Aannah Interrante was the final Redhawk in double figures, scoring 12 with three made three pointers.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Both teams went back-and-forth throughout the first quarter, with the Redhawks opening the contest with five straight points.

The lead changed twice in the second quarter, with a last second jumper from Aannah Interrante putting SU ahead by two going into the break. 

The Vaqueros grabbed as large as a seven point lead in the third period, but Seattle U never looked out of the contest. An Irena Korolenko layup before the final buzzer of the third quarter made it just a two point game entering the last quarter. 

Seattle U used a 7-2 run around the six minute mark to build a four point lead that UTRGV immediately answered a tied the contest at 65 all with 4:30 remaining. 

After a made layup from UTRGV's Charlotte O'Keefe tied the contest at 67, Seattle U went on a 10-2 run that featured an and one layup from Mya Moore and this crucial three pointer from Interrante.

The Redhawks will return ot Texas next week for their third and final road contest in the state over two weeks, facing off with UT Arlington at 4 p.m. pacific time on Thursday.
