SEATTLE - Seattle U women's basketball (3-21, 3-12 WAC) wrapped up this week's action on Saturday afternoon, falling to Utah Tech, 75-89, in a contest that saw a combined 25 made three pointers. The Western Athletic Conference (WAC) matchup took place at the Redhawk Center on the campus of Seattle U in Seattle.
Irena Korolenko was the Redhawks leading scorer on the afternoon, finishing with 20 points on 8-for-12 from the field with four made three pointers. Korolenko also added five rebounds to go along with one block and one steal.
Mya Moore also finished in double figure scoring, chipping in 12 on 5-for-9 from the field to go along with four rebounds and two blocks.
The Redhawks finished the afternoon with 11 made three pointers, coming just one shy of tying their season high that happened at California Baptist on Jan. 6
HOW IT HAPPENED
Both teams went back-and-forth for most of the opening quarter before Utah Tech went on an eight to nothing run to take an eight point lead after one.
Trailing by 15 entering the second half, the Redhawks would do their best to get back into the contest. A seven to nothing Redhawks run would bring the score to just eight before The Trailblazers answered and took their lead back to 14 going into the final quarter.
The Redhawks got as close as 14 points in the final quarter, thanks to nine of Korolenko's 18 second half points but they were unable to overcome the early deficit.
