Redhawks Drop Double-Overtime Heartbreaker in Phoenix

PHOENIX, Ariz. - Seattle U women's basketball (1-16, 1-7 WAC) pushed the Western Athletic Conference's (WAC) only remaining undefeated team to the brink on Saturday afternoon, falling in double-overtime, 73-84. Today's WAC matchup took place at the Global Credit Union Arena at GCU on the campus of Grand Canyon in Phoenix.

PHOENIX, Ariz. - Seattle U women's basketball (1-16, 1-7 WAC) pushed the Western Athletic Conference's (WAC) only remaining undefeated team to the brink on Saturday afternoon, falling in double-overtime, 73-84. Today's WAC matchup took place at the Global Credit Union Arena at GCU on the campus of Grand Canyon in Phoenix. 

Makayla Moore finished the contest as the Redhawks top scorer, marking 20 points on 8-for-14 from the field in a career-best 42 minutes. 

Noemie Bariteau chipped in 15 points as well, pouring in three three pointers, tying her career-high in rebounds (six) and playing a career-best 43 minutes.

Mya Moore also added in 11 points, six rebounds and five assists.

Seattle U marked a season-best nine three pointers on the afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Redhawks got off to a quick start in this one, using an 11-2 run at the end of the first quarter to take a 16-9 lead into the second. 

Seattle U continued its strong play into the second quarter, building its largest lead of the day after this Ramona Jagger and-one layup late in the period.

Both teams went back-and-forth in the third, with this Aannah Interrante triple pushing SU's lead to five with three minutes left in the period.

The contest remained close in the fourth, with Mya Moore converting on a layup with one minute and thirty seconds remaining to force overtime.

In the first overtime period, Seattle U almost squeaked out the victory before GCU tied the contest at 69 after knocking down three straight free throws. 

SU was unable to keep its momentum going in the second overtime frame as the Lopes took the 11 point victory.
