ARLINGTON, Tex. - Elif Teksoy of Seattle U volleyball was named as one of eight freshman on the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) All-Freshman Team on Wednesday afternoon.
"Elif had to step into a big role and develop quickly," said Assistant Coach Mariko Downey. "She has grown immensely and we are excited to see her continue to progress and build for the future.
Teksoy was one of two Redhawks to compete in all 97 sets this season, starting all 27 contests. The setter finished the year, fifth in the WAC and 128th in the nation in assist per set (8.90) as well as fifth in the WAC and 106th in the nation in total assists (863). Her 863 total assists is the most by a Redhawk in a single-season since 2018 and has her just one shy of being tied for ninth career assists all-time. Tijana Milojevic and Anna Palmer were the last Redhawk freshman to earn WAC All-Freshman honors back in 2018.
Other Seattle U volleyball members that received All-WAC votes are junior Arianna Bilby and freshman Naima Foster.
