History with Oregon State
This will be the seventh meeting between the Redhawks and Beavers, and the second meeting this season. Seattle U defeated Oregon State at home, 2-1, back in early September. After trailing at the half, Yeider Zuluaga and Taketo Onodera both scored in the second to snag the comeback win at Championship Field.
The lone win on the road for the Redhawks in the series came in 2015. Redhawk Hall of Famer Kyle Bjornethun scored a brace with just a couple minutes remaining in the half to knock off a then ranked 13th Oregon State squad.
Sixth NCAA Appearance
This will be the sixth time in the last 10 years that the Redhawks have made the NCAA tournament. SU has won the opening game in all but one of their five prior appearances, falling to Portland in the First Round back in 2021.
WAC Regular Season Champs
Seattle U captured their fourth Western Athletic Conference regular season title this year, going unbeaten (7-0-1) in conference play. The Redhawks have won the regular season and/or postseason championship every other season since 2013.
New Heights
The Redhawks came in at No. 9 in the final United Soccer Coaches' Poll of the 2023 regular season, the highest ranking in the programs Division I history.
A Career First
Junior midfielder Mo Mohamed scored his first collegiate goal in the Redhawks 1-2 loss to UNLV in the WAC semifinals. The goal tied the match, before an overtime PK knocked the Redhawks out of the tournament. For his efforts, Mohamed was named to the All-Tournament Team.
Oh Captain, My Captain
Senior forward James Morris was named the WAC Offensive Player of the Year in the annual conference postseason awards. After missing almost all of last season, Morris led the conference in both goals (10) and assists (7) during the regular season. He was also named First Team All-WAC and was a 3x conference player of the week this season.
Everybody Gets a Goal
Eight different Redhawks scored at least two goals this season, with Morris (10), Lennard Fock (6), and Yeider Zuluaga (5) being top three.
