NACOGDOCHES, Tex. - Seattle U volleyball hits the road for the final time in Western Athletic Conference (WAC) play this season, traveling to Stephen F. Austin and UT Arlington on Thursday and Saturday, respectively. Both matches will be streamed live on ESPN+ with live stats available.

The Redhawks are riding high after setting a new program record for single-match blocks (21.0) in their five set win over Abilene Christian on Saturday. The 21 total blocks is also the season-high for blocks in the entire conference this season.

Seven Redhawks got involved in the record breaking afternoon with at least one block with Tatum Chase (11), Elif Teksoy (seven), Arianna Bilby (six) and Naima Foster (five) all setting new career-highs. Chase marked the highest overall total block performance for the WAC in one contest this season with the double-digit blocks day. Marley Hardgrave also had an impressive day in the front row, falling one block short of tying her career-high. 

Bilby and Smajlovic logged double-doubles for the second straight contest, with the former recording a match-high 19 kills to go along with 18 digs and the latter tallying a new career-high with 20 digs to go with 15 kills. Smajlovic hit a season-high (at least 20 attempts) .349, while Bilby marked an impressive .279.

Seattle U ranks fifth in the WAC in blocks per set (2.02), total team blocks (172), and sixth in total team attacks (2,912).

Arianna Bilby ranks first in the WAC in attacks per set (11.07), total attacks (941), third in kills per set (3.51), and fourth in points (337), points per set (3.96) and total kills (298). 

Elif Teksoy ranks fourth in the WAC in total assists (766) and fifth in assists per set (9.01). 

The Redhawks trail the all-time series with the Ladyjacks, 0-2, after dropping their first matchup this season.

This is Michelle Cole's fourth season at Seattle U and sixth overall as a head coach

The 2023-24 academic year marks the 25th season of SU volleyball since the program was reinstated in 1999. This will be their 16th season as a NCAA Division I member and 12th as part of the Western Athletic Conference (WAC).

Seattle U added Felipe Nogueira as an assistant coach this offseason. Nogueira spent the past two seasons as the head coach of the Grand View men's volleyball program, receiving the AVCA Thirty Under Thirty award and guiding the Vikings to a 2022 NAIA National Championship and an overall record of 47-11.
