Comeback Effort Falls Short in Phoenix

PHOENIX, Ariz. - Seattle U volleyball (6-15, 1-9 WAC) wrapped up its final road match in the month of October on Saturday afternoon, dropping a matchup with Grand Canyon in four sets. The Western Athletic Conference (WAC) contest took place at GCU Arena on the campus of Grand Canyon in Phoenix.

PHOENIX, Ariz. - Seattle U volleyball (6-15, 1-9 WAC) wrapped up its final road match in the month of October on Saturday afternoon, dropping a matchup with Grand Canyon in four sets. The Western Athletic Conference (WAC) contest took place at GCU Arena on the campus of Grand Canyon in Phoenix.

SCORING SUMMARY
Set 1: 16-25
Set 2: 25-23
Set 3: 21-25
Set 4: 11-25

MATCH NOTES 
After dropping the opening set, Seattle U bounced back to take the second set. The Redhawks recorded more kills (16), digs (14) and assists (15) than the Lopes during that set. The Redhawks never quit in that set, claiming 10 of the last 12 points.

Merima Smajlovic finished with a career-best 14 kills to led the Redhawks for the first time this season, while both Arianna Bilby and Marley Hardgrave finished with eight each and Tatum Chase set her career-high at six. 

Chase hit a stellar .357, while Smajlovic logged the next best at .278.

Elif Teksoy assisted on 34 points to go along with six digs and one kill. 

Naima Foster and Chase both logged three total blocks each. 

Erin Goya continues to perform well at the Libero, leading the team with 17 digs while Bilby was one shy of her career-high 16.
