Senior Spotlight

Seattle U men's soccer will celebrate the careers of four seniors on Saturday. Habib Famuditimi, Kotaro Hirokawa, Rory King, and James Morris will be celebrated prior to kick off between the Redhawks and Spartans. Fans and family are advised to show up early for the pregame festivities.

History with the Spartans

The series dates all the way back to 2008 when the Redhawks returned to a Division I schedule. In that time SU holds a 11-8-3 advantage in 22 matches spanning across the regular season and WAC tournament play.

Despite the lead in the win tally, the Redhawks dropped both matches last season to the Spartans, a 0-1 loss in San Jose during conference play then a 0-4 defeat that knocked SU out of last season's WAC tourney in Riverside. Prior to the back-to-back losses the Redhawks had gone unbeaten in the previous 12 meetings.

Redhawks in the Rankings

Seattle U moved up seven spots in the latest United Soccer Coaches' Poll, coming in at 13. It is the highest ranking for the program since being ranked 12th in the final poll of 2015.

Players of the Week

James Morris and Kotaro Hirokawa took home the conference's weekly honor on both sides of the ball respectively last week. Morris, who has now won the award three times this season, scored three goals including a brace over California Baptist. Hirokawa took home the defensive side after helping the Redhawks secure back-to-back clean sheets.

Chasing Records

Forward James Morris is quickly approaching several program all-time records in his final season with the Redhawks. The senior from Doncaster needs two to tie and three to break the all-time goals mark set by Noe Meza (28), and eight points to be the leader in the category currently headed by Declan McGlynn (74). Morris also currently sits seconds in all-time assists, seven behind Sergio Rivas

Conference Conquerors

The Redhawks are the only unbeaten team left in the Western Athletic Conference, sitting at 4-0-1 (13pts). Seattle U has outscored their opponents 12-3, including three shutouts, in conference play. Although they cannot clinch the regular season title on Saturday, a victory would put them 4-points clear of second place Utah Tech.
