ARLINGTON, TX - Kotaro Hirokawa has been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week and James Morris has been named Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending on 10/15.
"I am happy for Kotaro," said head coach Nate Daligcon. "He has been consistent in his play and approach all season and it is great for him to get recognized."
Hirokawa has been a huge addition for the Redhawks this season at left back, being involved both defensively and on the attack. The grad transfer from Yokohama, Japan helped secure back-to-back shutouts for Seattle U last week. This is his first Player of the Week nomination.
The weekly honor is nothing new for Morris, who has been named Offensive Player of the Week three times this season. The forward scored his third brace of the season in the Redhawks 3-0 win over California Baptist and had the game-winner vs UTRGV on Thursday. Morris was also named the College Soccer News Men's National Player of the Week for his performance last week.
"Happy for James," Daligcon added of his striker. "His preparation and focus have been great all season.
This now makes it four different Redhawks to be named to the conference's weekly honor.
Week ending on 9/3:
The Redhawks will be back in action this weekend when they host San Jose State on Saturday, Oct. 21, for senior day. Kickoff between the Redhawks and Spartans is set for 7pm PT.
