COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho – Seattle U women's golf collected its best overall finish of the young 2023-24 season on Tuesday, tying for third out of 13 teams at the Gonzaga Invitational. Shayna Lu (71-68-74) used a career-best single round performance of three-under 68 in the second round to tie for seventh overall, while Tsara Ralamboarison (70-71-73) grabbed her second straight top-15 finish as she tied for 11th overall The event took place at Coeur d'Alene Resort Golf Course in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, on the 6,085 yards course with a par of 71.
"I am so proud of how our women played overall this past week," said Assistant Coach Michelle Duan. "They showed a lot of fight and their game fit well with how the course played. We got to see some of their true playing ability and we are excited to bring that forward to our next home event. I also want to congratulate Shayna on her career-low round on Monday."
Seattle U led the field in made birdies with 50 and tied for first overall on par fives with an average of 4.88 and scoring of seven-under.
Ralamboarison led the tournament in par five play, averaging 4.50 and scoring at six-under. Lu and Ralamboarison both finished tied for seventh in made birdies with 12, while Maria Fedorowycz tallied 10 and Aaryanna Morris made just one less.
Annika Cruz (73-74-73) finished with a three-round total of 220, while Morris (78-70-76) and Fedorowycz (75-71-79) played their best golf in round two with scores of one-under 70 and even 71, respectively.
The Redhawks will host the ninth annual Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational next week, teeing off on Monday, October 2, at Tacoma Country and Golf Club in Tacoma, Wash.
