RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Seattle U softball captured its sixth straight victory and second straight series sweep on Saturday, taking a dominate, 8-1, win against California Baptist in the conference finale. Jocelynn De La Cruz had a phenomenal day at the plate, going three-for-four with one home run and three RBIs. The 2023 Western Athletic Conference (WAC) contest finale took place at Funk Stadium in Riverside, California.
The Redhawks sixth straight win improves them to 33-18 overall with a 14-10 record in WAC play.
Jocelynn De La Cruz put the Redhawks in the lead for good in the opening inning, smashing a three-run home run to left field. Tai Wilson and Madison Kahwaty were on base when De La Cruz hit one out of the park, recording back-to-back singles in the two at bats before she came to the plate.
Seattle U tacked on three more runs on four hits in the fourth to put the game out of reach. Katie Walling opened the inning with a single to right field to extend her hitting streak to a team-leading 12th game before Mekenzie Madokoro put her in scoring position on a single up the middle. Lily Garcia and Olivia Viggiano logged back-to-back RBI singles to force the Lancers into a pitching change. Wilson added on one more before the inning ended, hitting a sacrifice fly to right field.T1 | ??????

Wilson grabbed her eighth hit of the series with an RBI double in the sixth, while Taylor DeDen made it eight-zero in the seventh with a pinch hit RBI double to center field. The Redhawks finished with four players recording multi-hit games with the team logging 14 hits overall on the day.
Stefanie Madrigal was fantastic once again in the circle, finishing as the WAC's leader in wins with her 16th today on six innings of work with a strikeout. The senior allowed just four hits overall and retired nine of the first 13 Lancers.
