BOULDER CITY, Nev. - Seattle U men's golf concluded opening round action at the 2023 Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Championship on Friday, shooting a five-under 283 which puts them in fourth place. First round action took place at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nevada, on the 7,482 yards course with a par of 72.
Senior John Morrow was the Redhawks best golfer on day one, shooting a three-under 69 to put him in a tie for seventh place. Morrow is tied for first in par four average (4.90) and scoring (one-under) and tied for seventh in made pars with 13.
Graduate student Nathan Cogswell finished just one stroke behind Morrow, tying for 12th after one round with a score of two-under 70. Cogswell is tied for first in made birdies (seven), tied for fourth in par three average (2.75) and scoring (one-under) and tied for fifth in par five average (4.00) and scoring (one-under).
Fellow graduate student Jack Rahon and Ben Ragland both opened with an even 72, while sophomore Liam Gill rounds out the team score with a one-round total of 83.
Second round play of the WAC Championship will tee off on Saturday at 7 a.m. with the first Redhawk getting underway at 9:10 a.m.
