ARLINGTON, Texas - Seattle U women's golf graduate student Samantha Bruce was among those honored by the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) on Wednesday as the league unveiled its 2023 postseason awards. Bruce concludes her historic career at Seattle U, claiming her second straight First Team All-WAC honor and third consecutive All-WAC award.

The native of Makati City, Philippines, wrapped up her collegiate career with her ninth career finish inside the top-10, tying for seventh overall with a three-round total of 222 (70-77-75) at the WAC Championship. Bruce tied for second in made birdies with 10 and tied for fourth in par three average (3.00) and scoring (even).

The graduate student had a very successful season before the conference tournament, claiming three additional finishes inside the top-five and another two inside the top-15. Bruce opened the year with a historic performance at the Green Wave Classic in New Orleans, La., setting a new school record for lowest round (64), lowest round vs. par (8-under), lowest 36 hole total (137) and lowest 54 hole total (210).

Bruce's 2022-23 season sets new program records for single season scoring average (73.23), par five scoring average (4.7435) and made birdies (100).

Bruce is one of five Seattle U golfers to capture an individual title during their time, claiming first place at the Bobcat Spring Invitational at Golf Club of Estrella in Goodyear, Arizona. She set the program record for lowest 36 hole total at 138 (69-69), which she would later break this season.

This year's awards were based on a weighted average of pre-championship Golfstat (30%) and Golfweek (30%) rankings, pre-championships adjusted scoring average (30%) and one's placement at the WAC Championship tournament (10%).
