BLAINE, Wash. - Seattle U women's golf sits in fourth place after two rounds at the 2023 Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Championship after the second round on Monday. Freshman Aaryanna Morris leads a group of three Redhawks currently in the top-10 overall. Both rounds have taken place at Semiahmoo Golf & Country Club in Blaine, Washington, on the 6,203 yards course with a par of 72.
Seattle U continued its great play on the par fives, ranking first in average (4.85) and scoring (six-under) as well as leading the field in made birdies with 27.
Aaryanna Morris (73-73) moved up to a tie for fourth after starting the round tied for fifth, shooting another one-over par 73. The native Avondale, Arizona, has been stellar in all facets of the game, tying for sixth in par five average (4.88) and scoring (one-under), tying for seventh in par four average and scoring (two-over) and tying for 10th in par three average (3.13) and scoring (one-over). Morris ranks second on the team and sixth in the entire field in made birdies with six.
Rivekka Jumagulova (75-72) jumped to tied for seventh from tied for 12th with her team-leading even par 72 round. Jumagulova holds the top spot in par three average (2.63) and scoring (three-under) as well as tying for sixth in par five average (4.88) and scoring (one-under). The sophomore ranks seventh in the field with five made birdies.
Samantha Bruce (70-77) remained in the top-10, leading the field in made birdies (10) after two rounds of play. Bruce is tied for first in par five average (4.63) and scoring (three-under) as well as tied for fourth in par three average (3.00) and scoring (even)
Azumi Arai (78-78) is the third Redhawk that is tied for sixth in par five average and scoring, while Shayna Lu (81-77) improved her score by four strokes in the second round.
Action for the third and final round of the WAC Championship will tee off on Tuesday at 7:30 a.m. with the first Redhawk teeing off at 9:10 a.m.
