LAS CRUSES, N. Mex. - Seattle U men's tennis opened up WAC play in Las Cruses, New Mexico when they took on New Mexico State in a dual match. The Redhawks were able to start off WAC play with a solid win, as the Redhawks defeated the Aggies, 4-3.
DOUBLES:
- Yu Han Hseih and Filip Stipic started off doubles play with a dominant 6-1 win over Luca Fe D'Ostiani and Ryan Ford
- Michael Frank and Julian Worn followed up with a solid 6-4 win over Corey Clarke and Roko Stipetic to secure the doubles point for the Redhawks
SINGLES:
- Julian Worn continued the great play into singles, as he defeated Yehor Opanasenko in two identical sets of 6-2
- Michael Frank faced off against Itay Feigin, but unfortunately would be defeated in identical sets of 4-6
- Veselin Kiselkov had two competitive sets against Roko Stipetic, and would take the win in two sets of 7-5
- Yu Han Hseih was matched up against Luca Fe D'Ostiani, but would drop the match 6-7(4), 3-6
- Clement Hamel had a back and forth match against Corey Clarke, but Hamel would come up just short, losing the match, 3-6, 6-3, 3-6
- With the dual match tied at 3-3 on the team score, Filip Stipic came away with the game deciding win. In a heated battle against Jordy Visser, Frank pulled out the win in three sets, defeating Visser 1-6, 6-3, 6-4.
The men will travel to Abilene, Texas to face Abilene Christian on April 2
