The three-day, 54-hole event is scheduled to take place at El Macero Country Club on the 7,127 yards course with a par of 72.
The Redhawks will be competing against golfers from CSU Fullerton, Cal Poly, California, Denver, Fresno State, Grand Canyon, Idaho, Long Beach State, Loyola Marymount, North Texas, Pacific, Sacramento State, San Diego, San Francisco, Santa Clara, UC Davis, UC San Diego, UCLA and Washington State. Seattle U's team lineup will consist of graduate student Jack Rahon, senior John Morrow, junior Blake Kukula, sophomore Liam Gill and freshman Ben Ragland. Seattle U will start teeing off at 9:05 a.m. on hole 10.
This will be the Redhawks second consecutive season competing at the El Macero Classic. Seattle U enters this tournament after taking second place at both the UC San Diego Invitational and the Redhawk Invitational. At the UC San Diego Invitational, the Redhawks set school records for lowest total through 36 holes (557, 19-under) and lowest total through 54 holes (834, 30-under). SU was stellar on the par four and fives, placing second in scoring and average in both categories with a three-over/4.02 in the par fours and 32-under/4.47 in the par fives. Seattle U made the third most pars (178) in the field and was the only team to have three players score under 70 in one round, doing so in the second and third round.
The Redhawks followed that up with another strong performance a week later at the ninth annual Redhawk Invitational in University Place, Washington. The Redhawks played some of their best golf on the par fives, finishing second out of the 17 teams with an average of 4.86 and scoring of six-under. Seattle U finished tied for fourth in made birdies (42) and pars (164). The second place performance ties Seattle U's best ever finish as a team at the Redhawk Invitational as they also took second in 2015.
