PORTLAND, OR - Seattle U baseball kicked off their back-to-back midweek games with a huge win over Portland, 10-2, Tuesday night in Oregon. The Redhawks and Pilots were tied at one for most of the game, but a late inning explosion for SU lifted them over their I5 rivals.

"Good road win for us against a good ball club," said head coach Donny Harrel. "Nestor was really solid today with a quality start, Dayton did exactly what we needed to save our bullpen to be ready for the Cougars tomorrow."

It was a pitcher's duel through the first seven innings of action. Nestor German, who was making his ninth start of the season, only allowed one earned run through his 6 1/3 of action in a no decision performance. Cameron Dayton would come on in the 7th inning and go the rest of the way, also allowing just one run on the way to his second win of the season.

The Redhawk bats came to life in the top of the 8th inning, as they brought home eight to blow the game wide open. Seattle U began the inning with three straight hits, with Cole Kleckner capping off the sequence with a 2-RBI single to give them the lead.

Jackson Lind, Cameron Dayton, Ryne Hays, and Michael Tsoukalas would all pickup RBIs in the inning before Kleckner would come to the plate again and book end his standout inning with another 2-RBI single. Matt Boissoneault (5) would add one more insurance run in the top of the 9th on a solo homerun, as the Redhawks made it a late runaway win on the road.

"That big inning had a lot of key two strike knocks in it to break open a close game," Harrel added of the big 8th inning.

Seattle U now improves to 10-19 on the season and have won six of their last 10 games. They will have a quick turnaround as Washington State awaits them at home for a showdown tomorrow, April 11. That game, which is being played at Bellevue College's Courter Field, is set for a 3pm PT first pitch. Kian Hogan is scheduled to make his fifth start of the season on the mound, as the Redhawks look to make it two in a row.
