Bellevue, Wash. - Seattle U baseball dropped game 3 and the series to the Aggies, 2-4, Sunday afternoon at Bannerwood Park. A late inning rally looked promising but fizzled out as the Redhawks just came up short.

Blake Smith (0-1), in the first start of his career, went four innings and gave up three runs on five hits. Kian Hogan came in for his first relief appearance of the season and had a solid outing, going the final five innings while giving up just one earned run and struck out three.

After UC Davis took a 3-run lead after the third inning, the Redhawks would finally breakthrough in the 4th when a bases loaded walk by Grant Heiser pushed home Ryne Hays. Seattle U would be turned away from more runs in the inning before a solo homerun by the Aggies in the 8th pushed their advantage back to three.

Again, it would be Heiser sparking another rally for the home side, when he singled up the middle in the bottom of the 8th, this time scoring Cole Kleckner and making it a 2-4 ballgame. The Redhawks would come away from the top of the 9th unscathed, with an opportunity to walk it off in the bottom half. Trevor Antonson would leadoff with a walk which was followed by a single from Hudson Shupe. With no outs, UC Davis would shut down the home theatrics by getting SU to pop up then hit into a double play to end the game and take the series.

The Redhawks will now hit the road for four straight, starting with a trip to Pullman for a 1-game matchup with Washington State on Tuesday, March 7. First pitch from the Palouse is scheduled for 2 pm with the game being broadcast on PAC-12 Network+.
