Harquail, Groleau Lead Redhawks at Oregon Preview

EUGENE, Ore. - Seattle U track and field kicked off their outdoor season at the Oregon Preview, hosted by the University of Oregon, in Eugene, Oregon. The Redhawks got the season off to a great start, with multiple personal bests, led by Gus Harquail winning the 2000m Steeplechase, and Azalea Groleau setting a 2 mark in school history in the 3000m.

EUGENE, Ore. - Seattle U track and field kicked off their outdoor season at the Oregon Preview, hosted by the University of Oregon, in Eugene, Oregon. The Redhawks got the season off to a great start, with multiple personal bests, led by Gus Harquail winning the 2000m Steeplechase, and Azalea Groleau setting a #2 mark in school history in the 3000m.

In the 2000m Steeplechase, Gus Harquail ran away with the win, as he broke away from the pack with 700 meters to go, securing first place with a time of 5:44.84. Hezekiah Goodwin was also in the race, clocking in a time of 5:57.07 to finish fourth overall.

Isaiah Payne had a soid showing in his first outdoor meet of the season, finishing second in the 200m and fifth in the 100m, clocking in times of 21.62 and 10.78, respectively. In the long jump, Amadeus Eckart had a PR to start his outdoor season, jumping 6.21m to improve on his standing as eighth on the SU top-ten list.

Other personal bests for the men include Carl Christopherson in the 200m (23.25), Parker Wagnild (4:06.67) in the 1500m, and Rajesh Gill (3:59.49) in the 1500m.

In the women's 3000m, Azalea Groleau had a solid performance, breaking the 10-minute barrier with a time of 9:59.98. The performance by Groleau now puts her second in school history, and only one of two SU athletes to break 10 minutes in the event.

Livii Fetterley continued to put her name on the top-ten list. In the shot put, Fetterley threw a mark 9.94m, which ranks her ninth in school history. 

The Redhawks will prep to travel down to Palo Alto and San Fransisco, California to compete at the Stanford Invitational and Mike Faneli Track Classic on March 30 - April 1.
