STEPHENVILLE, Tex. - Seattle U women's basketball opened its final road trip of season on Tuesday, falling to Tarleton, 65-74. Sophomore Taliyah Clark and freshman Mya Moore led the Redhawks in scoring, combining for 33 points. The Western Athletic Conference (WAC) matchup took place at the Wisdom Gym in Stephenville, Texas.
Seattle U began the contest strong, scoring the first seven points with six coming from Moore. After leading for the majority of the first and second quarter, the game was tied going into halftime.
Back-and-forth action took place for the majority of the third quarter before Julianna Walker hit back-to-back threes to push the Redhawks back in front. Tarleton would use an 8-0 run late in the fourth to take the lead and claim the victory.
"We were unable to answer Tarleton's fourth quarter run," said Head Coach Suzy Barcomb. "Early foul trouble hurt our ability to develop chemistry on the offensive side of the court. We needed to match their intensity."
Clark finished with a new career-high 11 made free throws to go along with three assists and three rebounds. Moore shot 8-for-10 from the field and grabbed five boards.
"Mya was tremendous for us on the inside tonight," said Barcomb.
Tarleton's Teresa De Silva led all scorers with 22, while Mayra Caicedo finished with a double-double (11 points and assists).
