Men's Tennis Completes Weekend Trip to Pocatello

POCATELLO, Ida. - Seattle U men's tennis took a weekend trip east to Pocatello, Idaho to face off against Weber State and Idaho State. Both matches were highlighted by great doubles play from the duos of Clement Hamel and Veseln Kiselkov, as well as Julian Worn and Michael Frank

VS. WEBER STATE

The Redhawks started the weekend trip against Weber State on February 24. Clement Hamel and Veselin Kiselkov got started by taking on Connor Kruger and William Zulch, securing the win, 6-3. Julian Worn and Michael Frank battled it out against Tristain Sarap and Jordan Coutinho in a very competitive match, with Worn and Frank coming out on top in a score of 7-5. Both wins were good enough to secure the doubles point for the Redhawks.

The Redhawks were unable to keep the momentum going into singles. Clement Hamel would start off against Sebastian Buxam, but would drop the match in identical sets of 4-6.  Filip Stipic would have a close match against Tristain Sarap, with the second set going into a tiebreaker, but Stipic would unfortunately be defeated 4-6, 6-7(4).

Veselin Kiselkov was able to secure a dominant win against William Zulch. Kiselkov took the victory in the match 6-2, 6-4. 

Julian Worn would play Connor Krueger, but would lose the match 2-6, 0-6. Michael Frank faced off against Jordan Coutinho. Frank fought valiatnly in the second set to rally back, but his efforts would be cut short as he would drop the match 1-6, 6-7(2). Yu-Han Hsieh was matched up against Matteo Savio, but would not finish the match as the Wildcats already secured the win.

The Redhawks would fall to Weber State 4-2.

VS. IDAHO STATE

The men's team would return back to the court the next day to off against Idaho State. The Redhawks got off to a hot start in doubles. Hamel and Kiselkov would get started off by taking on Andreas Kramer and Valentino De Pellegrin. In a very close match, Kiselkov and Hamel secured the victory, winning the 7-6(4).

Julian Worn and Michael Frank would follow up with another close matchup against Wilkus Robbertse and Patrick Kristensen, and would take the win 7-5. Filip Stipic and Yu-Han Hsieh teamed up to battle the duo of Hiroki Fujita and Ethan Lye. This match was just as close as the previous two, as Hsieh and Stipic took the win, 7-6(2). The Redhawks would secure the doubles point.

The Redhawks would get shut out during singles. Clement Hamel and Patrick Kristensen would face off against each other to start off singles play, and Hamel would unfortunately drop the match after winning the first set, 7-6(4), 1-6, 3-6. Filip Stipic fought hard in the second set against Valentino De Pellegrin, but would also drop his match 1-6, 6-7(4).

Julian Worn took Andreas Kramer to a third tie breaker set in a very competitive match, but Worn would be defeated 6-4, 3-6, 5-7. 

Veselin Kislkov would be matched up against Wilkus Robertse, but would be defeated. Michael Frank would also drop his match against Victor Sklena 3-6, 0-6. Yu-Han Hsieh faced off agaist Hiroki Fujita, but would retire the match.

The Bengals defeated the Redhawks 6-1

The next time the men's team will be in action is on March 10 when they take on Portland State
