NEWBURG, Ore. - Seattle U men's tennis traveled down to Newburg, Oregon to take on George Fox in a dual match. The Redhawks started strong in doubles play, and kept the momentum rolling, as they defeated the Bruins 6-1.
In doubles play, Flilip Stipic and Yu-Han Hsieh started off with an impressive win against Lars Schmassman and Alle Banna, taking the match, 6-1. Julian Worn and Michael Frank also took the win against Hunter Fujimori and Austin Stone in a score of 6-3.
To wrap up doubles play, Clement Hamel and Veselin Kiselkov completed the sweep, as they trounced Vahang Pashayan and Camden Camacho, 6-3. The Redhawks secured the doubles point.
The Redhawks continued the dominant play into singles. Clement Hamel secured a shutout victory against Vahang Pashayan, as he dominated the match in two identical sets of 6-0. Julian Worn also secured a dominant win against Camden Camacho, as he would take the win 6-1, 6-0. Filip Stipic had a competitive match against Eli Mizerski, and would secure the victory 7-6, 6-1.
Yu-Han Hsieh had an extremely close and competitive match against Lars Schmassman that went to a third tie breaking set. After dropping the first set, Hsieh pulled off the win, as he would defeat Schmassman 2-6, 7-6(8), 7-5.
Dario Ristovski would close out singles play for the Redhawks in his match against Hunter Fujimori. The match was competitive and went to a third set, but Ristovski would secure the win, 6-2, 4-6, 10-6.
The men will travel to Pocatello, Idaho to take on Weber State on February 25 and Idaho State on February 26.
