SEATTLE - Seattle U women's basketball concluded a three game home stand on Saturday afternoon, falling to UT Arlington, 49-75. The Western Athletic Conference (WAC) matchup took place at the Redhawk Center in Seattle.
After some back-and-forth action to open the game, the Mavericks went on a 13-0 run in the middle of the first quarter. The Redhawks fought their way back into the game during the second quarter, outscoring UTA, 20-16, to make it a nine point game at halftime.
UT Arlington would come out of the break looking to score, going on a 11-2 run in the first four minutes. The Redhawks would follow this with a five point run of their own, capped off by a Julianna Walker three-pointer. However, the Mavericks would then score the next 11 points to put the game out of reach.
The Mavericks' Kayla White was the game's leading scorer at 23 points, while Starr Jacob's recorded the game's sole double-double of 17 points and 11 rebounds. Three Redhawks would finish just short of double figures, with sophomore Julianna Walker and freshman Sheridan Liggett and Mya Moore all scoring nine points.
Seattle U will hit the road for two games, starting with New Mexico State on Thursday evening with tip off scheduled for 5 p.m. pacific time.
