SEATTLE - Seattle U women's basketball played its first Western Athletic Conference (WAC) home game of the 2022-23 season on Thursday night, falling to California Baptist, 62-74. CBU's dominate performance in the third quarter sealed a road victory. The matchup took place at the Redhawk Center in Seattle, Washington.

The Redhawks jumped out to a hot start, draining four early triples and scoring 14 of the first 18 points. Sophomore Jullianna Walker was vital in the early going, converting on her first three three-point attempts. Both teams would struggle to score in the second quarter, with the Redhawks only converting on three field goals, allowing the Lancers to take a four point lead into halftime.

Freshman Mya Moore banked home a layup after some strong post play 10 seconds into the second half before CBU would take control of the game. Two five point swings as well as an 8-0 run, would give the Lancers as large as a 15 point lead in the third quarter. SU would get the score to as close as nine in the fourth but could not overcome the deficit.

California Baptist's Kinsley Barrington scored a game-high 21 points on 8-for-13 from the field, while Chloe Webb would record a game-high nine rebounds.

Julianna Walker would lead Seattle U in scoring on the evening, finishing with 14 points to go along with four rebounds and four assists. Fellow sophomore Taliyah Clark's 10 points would mark the only other Redhawk in double figures.

Seattle U continues its WAC home opening weekend on Saturday, hosting Southern Utah for the first time in program history at 2 p.m. in the Redhawk Center.
