SEATTLE - Seattle U women's basketball took part in its sole matchup of the weekend on Saturday, falling to Stephen F. Austin by a scoreline of 57-86. The Western Athletic Conference (WAC) matchup took place at the Redhawk Center in Seattle.
Seattle U opened the game the aggressor of the two sides, scoring eight of the first 12 and holding as large as a four point lead after three and half minutes. SFA would then score the next 13 points, allowing them to hold a seven point lead after one quarter.
A Peyton Howard layup at the 5:40 mark of the second quarter made it a three point game before the Ladyjacks tallied another 13-0 run, giving them the lead for the remainder of the contest. The Redhawks brought the score to as close as 15 in the second half but were unable to recover from the early deficit.
Stephen F. Austin finished with four players in double figures, lead by Tyler McCliment-Call's 17. SFA's Avery Brittingham was the only player to finish with double-digit rebounds, logging 10.
Freshman Asta Blauenfeldt was SU's leading scorer, recording a career-high 13 points on 5-for-9 from the field and 2-for-4 from three point distance. Junior Peyton Howard also scored in the double-digits, finishing with 12 on 4-for-8 from the field.
Freshman Mya Moore also logged a new career-high in this game, blocking three shots on the afternoon.
SU will go on the road for one, traveling to Riverside, Calif., to face off against California Baptist on Thursday, Jan. 19, at 6 p.m.
