SEATTLE – Seattle U women's basketball opened a two match road trip across Montlake, dropping its matchup with Washington, 49-60. Junior Irena Korolenko was Seattle U's leading scorer, pouring in three three-pointers in an 11 point performance. The nonconference matchup was played at Alaska Airlines Arena on the campus of Washington.

"A very solid performance by our entire team tonight," said Head Coach Suzy Barcomb. "Our bench played fantastic, providing great production and balance to our scoring. Washington was outstanding on the glass and our inability to make our free throws like normal really hurt us in the end."

Both teams came out slow offensively, with the Redhawks taking a narrow lead after one quarter thanks to back to back three-pointers from Korolenko. A back and forth second quarter, saw Seattle U ahead at the break after leading the entire quarter.

Washington came out strong and fast in the third quarter, scoring 14 of the first 18 and outscoring SU 21-9 overall. Sophomore Jullianna Walker brought the score to as close as seven, but the Huskies would never let up.

Junior Peyton Howard finished second in points with nine, while sophomore Taliyah Clark chipped in eight. Freshman Mya Moore led the team on the glass, finishing with seven in the contest.

Seattle U held Washington to 31% from the field and 11% from three-point distance, finishing with eight steals and a season-high seven blocks.

Seattle U will play one more on the road before returning home for three, heading to Ogden, Utah, for its first ever matchup with Weber State on Dec. 3.
