NEW YEAR, NEW U
Seattle U's 2022 roster features eight new athletes, led by transfers Kari Kyrkjebo and Julianna Walker. Kyrkjebo started 16 games at UC Riverside as a freshman in 2020-21, logging over 30 minutes in five of them and recording five plus rebounds nine times. Walker joins the Redhawks after one year at Syracuse. A former Gatorade Washington Girls Basketball Player of the Year, Walker scored the third most points in Washington high school history.

HOWARD GETS BUCKETS
Junior guard Peyton Howard is the only returner to play in all 30 games last season. The Spokane, Wash., native led the offense in last weekend's exhibition, scoring what would have been a career-high 21 points in the victory over the Saint's. Howard lead the team in minutes played, points and rebounds.

MAKING AN IMPACT OFF THE BENCH
Junior Irena Korolenko and sophomore Taliyah Clark were impactful players off the bench last season, coming into the game a combined 49 times. Korolenko is one of SU's best returning three-point shooters, converting on three or more three-points in four games last season. One of Clark's best performances last season came on opening night, shooting 100% from the field to finish with 14 points along with three steals, three rebounds and a block.

FORCING TURNOVERS
The Redhawks scored 15 points off turnovers last Saturday, with the Saints committing a total of 18 in the game. Walker recorded a game-high three steals, while freshman Asta Blauenfeldt added two of her own as SU finished with eight total on the night.
