Horn Sets New Career-High in Kills Against UTRGV

SEATTLE - Seattle U volleyball opened its final home stand on Thursday night, falling in four sets to UTRGV (25-20, 21-25, 18-25, 22-25). The Western Athletic Conference (WAC) match was played at the Redhawk Center in Seattle.

SEATTLE - Seattle U volleyball opened its final home stand on Thursday night, falling in four sets to UTRGV (25-20, 21-25, 18-25, 22-25). The Western Athletic Conference (WAC) match was played at the Redhawk Center in Seattle. 

Seattle U looked strong out of the gates, winning the first set of the match. After falling behind 19-14, the Redhawks would take the next nine points. Amaris Carter logged three kills and two block assists to lead SU in that stretch. 

Senior Shanice Horn had a career night in the kills department, posting 18 overall kills, of which eight came in the first set. Sophomore Arianna Bilby had her third career double-double, finishing with 16 kills and a new career high of 14 digs. 

Senior Ezgi Ozkan continued to provide a steady presence, assisting on 41 points to go along with six digs and two kills. Sophomore Erin Goya marked her ninth double-digit dig match of year, finishing with 14 digs. Senior Amaris Carter had new season-highs in digs (12), kills (9) and total blocks (5), while fellow senior Lauren McCabe added five kills and total blocks. 

Seattle U will conclude its home schedule against New Mexico State at 1 p.m. on Saturday, honoring its four seniors before the match.
